The changing of the leaves signals, the return of the STEAM Fair to the Danbury Library and Hackerspace, on Saturday, October 15th from 10am to 5pm.

“It’s going to be ‘Off the Hook’,” says Mike Kaltschnee, co-Founder of the Danbury Hackerspace. ”We have some new exhibits and amazingly cool makers! You got to come and see it for yourself.”

The STEAM Fair will have hands on activities and interactive exhibits such as stop-motion animation, 3D printers, drones, e-textiles, collage making, spin art, marshmallow shooters, Minecraft Survival Challenge, & more.

2016 “Fall” lineup of exhibitors and makers include: the current Maker in Resident for the Danbury Library, Terry Michael Rennert, of TMRennert Studios presenting his SHOPBOT robotic sculptures, World Maker Faire alums: Balam Soto & Josh Burker, Stop-motion animator Jhonny Parks, Noteworthy Chocolates, CT Hackerspace, Danbury Museum and Historical Society, Danbury Lego Robotics, CT Hackerspace, Luke’s Toys, Workspace Collective, Geeks Bearing Gifts, Gamer’s Gambit, Yale University’s CRISP Program, Connecticut Science Center Teen Innovation Program & much, much more.

 

Music will be a spotlight this year as a lineup of musicians and bands are set to begin performing at 12pm outside in the Library Plaza. Singer/songwriter, Lys Guillorn and her band start the day off followed by Malcolm Tent. Electronic band, Burnkit 2600 will return be to perform music as well as local hip hop artist, Cee Reed.

 

“We want people to come together in our Library Plaza, to enjoy orgianl music by some of our local musicians as well as taste some really delicious food.”  Says Aurelio Muraca, Technology Program Coordinator for the Danbury Library, “with the leaves changing colors, brisk air… it’s going to be lovely.”

 

For foodies…The STEAM Fair will feature the return of MEAT The Press, the food truck favorite will be there to provide food fare outside in front of the Library Plaza. Food and drinks will be sold at reasonable prices.

 

The Fair will run from 10am to 5pm. Library parking will be VERY limited. You can park at City Hall for free. There will be a special $3.50 all day festival parking at the Patriot Garage located nearby (21 Delay St.). On-Street parking will be $1 per hour. So the public are encouraged to park at those designated areas.

 

This is a FREE event for ALL AGES.
